Cancelled collections affect daily deliveries figures

GB daily milk deliveries averaged 35.57ml per day for the week ending 4 April 2020, up 0.7% on the previous week. However, it is important to note that these figures are a measure of milk that has been collected and delivered to dairies; Milk disposed of on-farm is not included.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some farmers are being asked to dispose of milk. We are aware that this disposal started from 4 April. Therefore there may be a small impact on these figures which cover the week ending 4 April. We also expect to see a continued impact on figures going forwards, until full collections by processors are resumed.
We are also aware of milk being collected, the fat extracted and the skim concentrate being disposed of. Given this milk will have been collected, these volumes will be included in the dairy deliveries that we report.
