British Pork and Dairy tantalise the taste buds in China

Five pork and five dairy exporters joined our export team to put their products on the map at Food and Hospitality (FHC) China – one of Asia’s leading food and beverage shows.

The show in Shanghai enabled exporters to meet existing customers and potential new ones from the key Chinese market, boosted with a supporting visit from the Rt Hon Thérèse Coffey, the then Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, prior to the Prime Minister’s reshuffle. The Secretary of State met with exporters and the AHDB team and discussed both the opportunities and challenges the Chinese market holds.

“We were delighted to return to FHC China with our exporters and help them showcase their products in what remains a key market for the pig meat sector. It provided the platform for them to develop new business relationships and build on existing ones in this key market for the sector.

“We very much welcomed the support of the secretary of State who visited our stands. It underlined how the collaborative approach between the Government, industry and AHDB to export development continues to ensure British produce takes pride of place on the global table in existing markets and front of mind for buyers in potential new ones.”

“This was the first time post-pandemic that the AHDB Dairy export team had returned to China and it was immensely successful with the additional support of the Secretary of State.

“There is enormous potential in China and the wider Asia region for our exporters to fulfil consumer demand for high-quality British dairy produce. FHC China undoubtedly gave us the opportunity to not only raise further awareness of what we have to offer in these markets, but to put our exporters in direct contact with buyers. It was another illustration of how AHDB plays a key role in helping to deliver tangible results for levy payers.”
