Charlotte Evans, Head of Engagement (Pork), announces details of the 2025 Pigs Tomorrow conference.

A belated happy new year to you all. I am writing this just as our first speakers have accepted their invitations to this year’s Pigs Tomorrow conference. And registration is officially open!

We are really pleased to be partnering with Pig World again to organise this year’s event, which will be held on 13–14 May in Leicestershire.

Since the first Innovation Conference (as it was then called) over 10 years ago, this event has grown to be one of the most anticipated biannual events for the pig sector, taking place each year in between the British Pig & Poultry Fair.

Originally, day two of the conference was free to levy payers, but this year the whole event will be completely free to levy payers, so please make sure you book your place in good time if you’d like to join us (and we really hope you do).

Having received such great feedback two years ago, we will be keeping the things you value the same. This includes plenty of time to catch up with other attendees, the Global Outlook session and the panel of Young Guns. There will also be plenty of panel debates, discussion about industry politics and, of course, the pre-dinner entertainment.

This time, however, the event will start and finish a little earlier, with an optional session at the end of the conference for those wishing to stay and chat to the speakers and panellists and/or get some one-to-one help and support.

The programme

We plan on kicking off the two days with the aforementioned Global Outlook session. This will explore global trends and what they mean for the future.

Then we will focus on the more local markets, including watchpoints, trends and emerging issues. We will have a look at resilient supply chains, as well as a session on ‘Brand Britain’ and what that means internationally when marketing our pork.

The Young Guns session was so popular last time that we are running this slot again. We will be focusing on recruiting staff and how to keep them happy and satisfied so they will stick around. We will draw from some experiences in other industries, such as the automotive sector, and hear from our young pig farmers about what they look for in an opportunity.

No conference these days would be complete without addressing sustainability. For Pigs Tomorrow, we will be looking at the trade-offs that so often exist between sustainability and welfare.

Environment-wise, we will be hearing about some of the experiences people have had of hitting environmental targets in Denmark, as well as getting an update on what has been going on in both indoor and outdoor systems in this country.

Also on the welfare front, we will be getting up close and personal with some of the new flexible farrowing systems and discussing what is/is not working, as well as investment decisions that are being made.

Book your place

If this line-up sounds like something you’d be interested in, please register and apply for a place by going to the Pigs Tomorrow event website.

Remember the whole conference is now free to levy payers, so please register early and spread the word! I look forward to seeing you all there.

Note: If you are interested in exhibiting at or sponsoring the event, please get in touch with Pig World’s Martin Goult: martin.goult@markallengroup.com
