Be prepared: Animal rights activism

Thursday, 27 August 2026

Indications suggest the anti-farming activists Animal Rising are due to release a new campaign on 1 September.

Farm incursions and covert filming can be distressing, and footage can spread rapidly across social and mainstream media.

Remain vigilant for incursions, covert filming and any unauthorised access to your farm, and review your on-farm procedures with staff to make sure everyone understands the standards expected of them.

Key areas to focus on include legal and assurance scheme requirements, reinforcing correct pig handling practices, keeping facilities clean and well maintained, and fostering a culture where poor practice is challenged and reported.

You should also remain alert to any unauthorised access to your farm and report any concerns through the appropriate channels.

NPA members can use the animal rights exposé notification form to report activity or ring the NPA office on 024 7685 8780 to speak to a member of the team.

For further guidance, Red Tractor member producers can download a copy of the Animal Welfare exposés briefing so it is readily available if needed.
