Royal Highland Show
The Royal Highland Show (RHS) is an annual event, showcasing the best of food, farming and rural life and takes place at the Royal Highland showground at Ingliston just outside Edinburgh in Scotland.
AHDB has been invited to take a stand in the President’s marquee over the four days of the show. It is positioned opposite the members pavilion and beside the Young Farmers Club.
This year’s theme is “The science of Food and Drink” and will shine a light on the important connection between scientific research and innovation and the basic and artisan foods produced in the Perth, Fife and Angus areas of Scotland.
We will showcase the work we do in Scotland on behalf of the Cereal & Oilseeds and Dairy sectors. Of particular interest is the ongoing research programme we are running with Balbirnie Home Farms in Cupar, Fife who host AHDB's Strategic Cereal Farm in Scotland.
Members of our Scottish-based team will be on the stand, so please pop by to say hello and learn more about the work we do in Scotland to support Dairy and Cereals & Oilseeds levy payers.
As part of the Beef Feed Efficiency programme, which we jointly fund with Defra, the SRUC mobile meat lab will be on site at the show with meat samples from the programme available to test. Attendees are invited to taste the meat and score it for our research.
Staff from our Beef & Lamb genetics team will be there working with SRUC and Dunbia to run the tasting exercise to help understand the genetics of meat quality alongside other traits.
