Feeding robotically milked cows

Past Event - booking closed

Thursday, 12 August 2021

11:30am - 1:30pm

Join us for a workshop to review feeding strategies for robotically milked cows in preparation for the winter season.

Striking the right balance between the nutrition, practicality and costs is key to successful rationing and can help you make the most from the highest cost on your farm.

You’ll hear from independent nutritionist Pete Kelly who has worked with top performing herds in the south west for over 30 years, and sources over 30,000 tonnes a year of feed for groups and individuals.

The workshop will cover:

  • The basic rules for effectively feeding cows and optimising milking visits
  • Setting milk access
  • Quality forages, the importance of NDF and intakes
  • What type of concentrate – and how much – in a robot?
  • How to dry cows off
  • Transition rations

This is an interactive CLOSED Teams workshop for dairy farmers only who are milking cows through robotic milking systems
