Beverley Monitor Farm: New year, new machinery? Time to take control of overheads
Please note, the date of this meeting has moved from 7 February to 9 February to avoid clashing with the Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show (YAMS)
Join us for the next Beverley Monitor Farm winter meeting.
We’re halfway through the first instalment of the Beverley Monitor Farm winter meetings for 2023/24, and what a meeting we have lined up for you.
We will be joined by Ceres Rural to discuss the recent Labour and Machinery Review that took place at the Beverley Monitor Farm. This is a review of the labour, power, and machinery costings in modern farming practices.
Our analysis has shown that overheads are a key driver of profitability and account for 67% of the total cost of crop production.
While the weather, policy, and market prices are largely out of our control, it is well within the scope of farms to review their machinery policies to improve business resilience and retain control of costs.
This meeting will cover
- Benchmarking key labour, power, and machinery costings to identify areas for improvement and set targets
- The factors at play when replacing machinery, such as depreciation, maintenance, operational expenses, and technological advancements
- Are joint ventures the way forward to cut costs, reduce risk, and improve efficiency? Ways to collaborate and what to watch out for
- Calculating the cost of machinery at home: hire, buy, or contract? What stacks up best for you?
- Wider considerations of farm stewardship and overhead costs
Registration and breakfast will be available from 9:30am, with presentations commencing at 9:50am.
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending.
The event is free to attend, but please register to allow us to cater accordingly.
