About Beverley Monitor Farm

  • Hall Farm has been a Monitor Farm since May 2023
  • The farm is one of four making up Albanwise Farming Ltd.
  • 2000 ha, 800 hs contract farmed, 100 ha wetland created 10 years ago
  • Mixture of free-draining loamy and loamy clay soils at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds

Will Jones is the farm manager at Hall Farm, one of the four farms making up Albanwise Farming Ltd. Will is responsible for 2000 ha at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, 1900 ha of which is in arable rotation, which includes wheat, winter barley, oilseed rape, spring barley, peas, forage maize, ware potatoes and spring beans. The remaining land is a 100-ha wetland created 10 years ago.

A min-till system is generally employed across the farm, but flexibility with cultivations is needed to accommodate the diverse rotation. The whole farm is in the SFI arable soils intermediate standard with multi-species cover crops grown ahead of spring crops.
