Sterling supports UK feed wheat futures: Grain market daily

Market commentary
- UK feed wheat futures rose yesterday, partly due to a weaker sterling against the US dollar (two-month low) and the euro. The Nov-25 contract closed at £166.75/t, up £1.20/t (0.7%) from Wednesday’s close.
- Paris milling wheat futures (Dec-25) closed 1.3% higher, supported by the euro being lower against the US dollar as well as by increased demand in the physical market. The price difference between Paris milling wheat (Dec-25) and maize (Nov-25) futures reached a low level of €3.75/t yesterday.
- However, Chicago wheat futures (Dec-25) fell by 0.2%. Chicago futures are struggling to find direction amid a lack of statistical information due to the US government shutdown.
- Paris rapeseed futures (Nov-25) gained €5.50/t to €471.75/t yesterday, while Feb-26 futures increased by €5.75/t to €473.75/t. The prices were supported by slow exports from Ukraine, strong vegetable oil prices and the currency movements.
- Indonesia will implement its B50 biodiesel programme that in the second half of 2026. The world's largest producer of palm oil, Indonesia, has a programme that blends biodiesel produced from palm oil with diesel to reduce its reliance on fuel imports. The programme is currently at the B40 stage, using 40% palm oil-based fuel (LSEG).
