Some support following seasonal lows: Grain market daily
Friday, 3 October 2025
Market commentary
- UK feed wheat futures increased yesterday, in line with gains in the global market. They were also supported by a weaker sterling against the US dollar and the euro. The Nov-25 contract closed at £165.15/t, up £0.60/t (0.4%) from Wednesday’s close.
- Chicago wheat and Paris milling wheat futures (Dec-25) increased by 1.1% and 0.1% respectively. Chicago wheat prices increased after reaching lows during the week, supported by demand from importers and weather risk in some regions for winter planting. However, the US federal government “Shutdown” that began this week could lead to more unpredictable agriculture commodity data. Yesterday's US weekly export sales report was not updated.
- Paris rapeseed futures (Nov-25) fell €4.00/t to €462.00/t yesterday, while May-26 futures increased by €1.25/t to €467.50/t. As the last trading day for Paris rapeseed November futures approaches, open interest is decreasing, while it is increasing for May.
- Chicago soyabeans and Winnipeg canola (Nov-25) both increased by 1.1%. Soyabean futures were higher on Thursday in response to news of potential further negotiations on the trade deal between the US and China.
