Learn how to work on, not in, your business with our Roots to Resilience programme

Friday, 21 June 2024

We are taking our Roots to Resilience programme on the road in July for a week of workshops across England. The sessions are free to attend and will focus on how understanding financials can give you valuable insight into the health and sustainability of your business.

Starting in Dorset on 8 July, the sessions will provide a taster of the programme’s four-day workshops with Dallas Mount which will return in November 2024.

Amy Hughes, Beef & Lamb Senior Engagement Manager at AHDB, said:

“Farming is made up of many daily tasks and it is easy to get bogged down with the day-to-day.

"We want to encourage farmers to stop and think about whether what they are doing is worth the reward and use their financial information to spot opportunities to do things differently.

“These workshops are a great introduction to the foundations of financial management, the importance of cash flow and how to achieve your business goals.

"They will also give you a preview of what to expect from our Roots to Resilience four-day workshops run by Dallas Mount.

"So, if you are on the fence about what you will get out of the full workshops and whether to spend the time and money attending, these free sessions will hopefully show you the value to your business attending the full programme can bring.”

Amy will be joined by Emily Grant, independent sheep consultant and founder of Forrit Consultancy. She said:

“Farming is a business, and the financials really matter. Getting to grips with your finances will help you decide where to focus effort, plan for the future and build resilience.

"These workshops will help you get to grips with the basics and encourage you to think about working on your business rather than in it.”

After Dorset, the workshops will move to Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Shropshire, ending in North Yorkshire on Friday 12 July.

They are free to attend but please register in advance for catering purposes.
