Jordan tenders to buy 120,000 tonnes of wheat: Grain market daily

Market commentary
- UK feed wheat futures (Nov-25) closed at £164.95/t yesterday, down £0.30/t (0.2%) on Monday’s close. The euro was weaker against both sterling and the dollar – this was driven by the unsettled political outlook in France as well as rising concerns over debt levels. Sterling closed yesterday at £1 = €1.1508 (LSEG). Paris milling wheat futures (Dec-25) were unchanged at €187.75/t, while Chicago wheat futures (Dec-25) ended down 1.17% hitting multiple contract lows on the back of a stronger dollar index over the past week
- It has been reported this morning that Jordan state grain buyer has issued a tender to buy up to 120,000 t of wheat from optional origins, the deadline for price offers is 14 October (LSEG)
- The Ukrainian agriculture ministry has reported that near 50% of winter wheat has been sown in Ukraine. It’s expected that there will be a 9% rise in wheat for 2026 harvest as Ukrainian farmers switch from spring crops, such as maize and sunflowers to wheat, read more in Monday’s Market Report
- Paris rapeseed futures closed at €466.75/t yesterday, up €4.25/t (0.9%) on Monday’s close. The wider vegetable oil complex supported rapeseed with gains in palm and sunflower oils
- Nearby Chicago soyabean futures (Nov-25) and soya bean oil (Oct-25) gained 0.4% and 1.5% respectively. Across the US farmers are looking for answers on harvest progress and production following ongoing progress for maize and soya beans. Further news is required on proposed aid for US farmers, as trade negotiations with China remain unresolved and the government shutdown continues
