EU pig meat trade in 2021: a year of two distinct halves

Full year EU trade data is now available for 2021. Within this we can see that total EU exports of pig meat including offal totalled 5.6 million tonnes, a 4% decrease on 2020 volumes.

Much of this was driven by lower volumes to China, with a partial offset by rises to Japan and South Korea. However, volumes actually grew in the first half of the year, and the entire decline can be attributed to the second half of the year.
