Ninezergh Farm - strategic farm launch

Ninezergh Farm in Cumbria becames our twelfth Strategic Dairy Farm when it launched in January 2020.

Ninezergh Farm is operated by Adrian Bland and his family. The farm was originally tenanted by Adrian’s father in the 60’s and is now owned and operated over a number of split plots with different areas being given over to sheep and beef as well as his Autumn block calving herd of 120 cows. Adrian operates a four-way cross breeding programme that results in all his bull calves being raised for beef and also adopts many organic principles in his farming.

During the launch Adrian openly shared his statistics and his approach to farming which has a strong emphasis on minimising waste, being self-sufficient, animal welfare and doing the simple things right.

He commented ‘Over the next three years I would like to continue to streamline inefficiencies in our production, build up a strong team and continue to minimise waste. I’m also keen to improve my grazing platform and to maximise homegrown feed and forage. Its vital that I get the input of local farmers at events to help drive this change and I am a massive believer in learning from one another.’
