What the war in Ukraine means for farmers and processors in the UK?
World Study Tour: Rapeseed Supply: What the war in Ukraine means for farmers and processors in the UK?
Please join us for the first instalment of an eight-part webinar series where AHDB will be travelling virtually around the world visiting different farming systems to see how they are ‘realistically adopting IPM’.
The first stop on the world study tour will take us to Ukraine, where agricultural operations are continuing to be disrupted by the ongoing and devastating conflict in the country.
Roman Slaston is the director general at the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) and will be speaking on the webinar about the quantity and quality of the Ukraine harvest, as well as the logistics of moving it out of the country, and a look at the planting forecast and what factors are going to affect producers reaching this projection.
With Ukraine being a major vegetable oil producer, reverberations from the conflict have been felt around the world. Anthony Speight, a senior analyst at the AHDB, will be explaining the impact on the UK rapeseed market and the projections going forward.
As we move through the supply chain, Duncan Farrington from Farrington’s Mellow Yellow will be giving his view on how market volatility as a result of the conflict has affected how the business operates and how he is trying to prevent rising costs from being passed on to consumers.
As the war continues to progress in Ukraine, our thoughts go out to those whose lives have been impacted by the conflict in the region. Here at AHDB, we will continue to do all we can to support the people of Ukraine through fundraising and supporting key charities.
