You are invited to join us for a summer farm walk at the Strategic Farm South summer meeting hosted by David Miller.

We look forward to welcoming you on-farm for a look at the trials and results to date for harvest 2022, work going forward into 2022/23 as well as covering other key topics including crop nutrition, soil health assessments and how to assess your own crops.

This meeting is free to attend, but please register using the 'Book Now' button to allow us to cater for you accordingly. BASIS and NRoSO points will also be available for attending this meeting.

What will this meeting cover?

David Miller’s farm cover 700 hectares with 670 hectares of combinable crops. Currently 10 years into the use of regenerative agricultural practices as farm manager for Wheatsheaf Farming Company, David was appointed AHDB’s Strategic Farm South as he looks to quantify the results of his actions in growing crops in a more biological way with less reliance on chemicals and inorganic inputs.

During the summer meeting, we will be looking at the current crops as well as discussing:

  • David’s journey to date Introduction to Wheatsheaf Farming Company, key things he has learnt over the 10 years and his goal for the strategic farm.
  • Strategic farm south trials An introduction and review of the trials to date at Strategic Farm, including the key results
  • Crop nutrition - A discussion on key crop nutrition including the importance of BRIX assessments, how to do them and what to do with the data
  • Soil baselining – A discussion on the importance of soil health and baselining, including a how-to VES assessment to benchmark your own soils
  • Crop health assessments – The importance of crop health assessments and how to complete your own

Please bring suitable footwear & clothing.
