Ripon Monitor Farm meeting: Land drainage
Please join our new monitor farm host Jonathan Fryatt at Lightwater Farms near Ripon, for the first meeting of the winter season, to discuss all things drainage.
This meeting will look at the theory and the history of drainage, to practical advice and design. The advantages and costs will be deliberated of which the meeting will concentrate on a single field and try to find a solution to a drainage issue found there.
In 2012 Rob was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship providing a truly unique opportunity to study land drainage across the globe, his study title was “Land drainage and its role in Farming’s’ future”. During his eighteen month scholarship Rob visited some of the best drainage professionals in the world, both fellow contractors and academics. Since completing his Nuffield studies, Rob has promoted land drainage giving hundreds of talks to farming groups and others, appearing in the press and collaborating with many other organisations to promote best practise in the industry.
