Ripon Monitor Farm Meeting – Alternative Cropping: whacky but wonderful?
You are invited to join us for the third Ripon Monitor Farm Meeting of the season hosted by Jonathan Fryatt
Welcome to the first Ripon Monitor Farm meeting of the New Year! Join Jonathan Fryatt and East Yorkshire grower, Jonathan Hodgson, as we discuss the agronomy, storage, marketing, and rotational benefits of some of the less prominent crops grown on British soils.
Willow and miscanthus have been in Jonathan’s rotation for 10 years, we will be exploring whether these biomass crops are leading the way as a regenerative solution to cutting emissions and storing carbon. Rob Meadley (Brown & Co) will be talking to us about how miscanthus works in marginal areas of his farm to boost biodiversity and deliver a good bottom line.
From weed suppression to boosting soil and crop health, we will be hearing from Liam McPartland, Harrison Spinks’ Farm Manager on why hemp is a sustainable and profitable crop of the future.
Registration and refreshments will be available from 10:30 with presentations commencing at 10:50 and lunch will be provided.
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending.
The event is free to attend, but please register to allow us to cater accordingly.
