Preparing for the changes in farm support
From BPS to ELMS: Are you ready for the changes coming to farm support?
Join us on 2 February at this AHDB, NFU & FarmHerefordshire event where Geoff Sansome (Head of Agriculture at Natural England) will explain the opportunities and practicalities of future income streams and how Herefordshire farmers can be best equipped to embrace these opportunities.
With the phasing out of pillar one payments beginning in 2021, we are now in the “transition period”. It is therefore the time to revaluate how we sustainably manage our farm businesses in accordance with the Government's future farming policy, which highlights better protection, utilisation and integration of our natural capital. In 2024, ELMS will be officially introduced which will replace the current Countryside Stewardship Scheme and will place greater importance and emphasis on the better protection and enhancement of the landscapes in which we farm.
On the 2 February we will aim to discuss strategies for Herefordshire Farmers to realistically and beneficially integrate ELMS into their farm businesses.
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available.
