Pembrokeshire Monitor Farm meeting: The Big drill debate

At the November Pembrokeshire Monitor Farm meeting Philip Wright and Harry Henderson will lead discussion on how crop establishment might look on your farm in the years ahead and provide thoughts on drill choices for different systems. 

The meeting will look at the current UK position, in terms of weather, harvest progress and soil condition. 

 
Specifically, we will discuss how to: 

• Assess soils 
• Select cultivation method 
• Restructure soils 
• Prepare for direct drilling, strip-tilling, no-till 

The discussion will also cover: 

• Drill choice – what does Tom choose for his next drill?  
• Choosing the best drill for your situation 
• Cost vs Practicality vs Vanity  

To conclude, we will examine how to progress soil management and crop establishment, with specific discussion on: 

• Rotations (including root/vegetable crops) 
• Weed control considerations 
• Are tines bad?
