Pembrokeshire: Maenhir Farm – Mobility and responsible use of antibiotics
Join us for the final in-person meeting at Maenhir Strategic Dairy Farm, run by brothers Richard and Joe Twose and their families on the border of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
The farm’s milk buyer has targets for reducing antimicrobials used on farm, so the event will feature the pathway Maenhir has trodden to achieve some good results so far. This will include a talk from the farm’s vet, discussing the responsible use of antibiotics in the areas of mastitis and calf health.
Sara Pederson, awarded Livestock Adviser of the Year in the 2023 Farmer’s Weekly Awards, is speaking on the vast improvements the herd have achieved by changing their mobility management strategy. With a live foot trimming demonstration, Sara will discuss how you can reduce the lameness in your herd.
At this event, you’ll find out more about Maenhir Farm, meet the team and take part in a farm tour.
This event will cover
- Mobility management with a hoof-trimming demonstration
- Controlling mastitis
- Reducing antibiotic use
