Join us for the launch of our latest strategic dairy farm, Newlands Farm, Bude, run by David, Sarah and their family on the North Devon/Cornwall border

Newlands has been in the family since 1963, and David and Sarah joined this family business in 2009 working alongside Sarah’s parents. Retaining the pedigree Holstein Friesian herd, they invested in a new dairy in 2019 and are now milking 180 cows through a guided robotic milking system. Calving all year round and making best use of home-grown forage, yields have increased from 8,500 litres to 10,500 litres with ambitions to increase this to 11,500 litres.

At this event you’ll find out more about the business, including why they decided to move to a robotic system, meet the team and take part in a farm tour. We’ll also examine the farm’s technical performance against AHDB’s KPIs and explore the long-term vision for the business. This will include a look at their key focus areas of:

  • Driving quality in forage through excellent soil and grassland management
  • Reducing the age at first calving to increase lifetime performance of cows
  • Maximising their assets by setting technical and financial targets
  • Optimising fertility levels as a key driver for business performance
