Newbury Monitor Farm meeting: Preparing for net zero carbon farming
In this Newbury Monitor Farm meeting Becky Wilson, Harley Stoddart and Tom Gent will lead discussion on how carbon calculations can assist arable farmers in managing their zero carbon targets. Welford Park have completed two carbon audits and we will discuss the differences and how to analyse your own carbon figures.
On the agenda:
Climate change is arguably the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today and British farmers are all too aware of the increasingly frequent weather extremes. Consequently, farmers have a special responsibility to protect carbon reserves already in soils and vegetation.
As highlighted in the Government's 25-year environmental strategy and by its 'net zero' greenhouse gases emissions target, farmers must prepare their businesses for the pending deadlines.
- Benefits of Carbon Auditing, how to get started and the farm carbon cutting tool
- Analyses of Welford Park’s audits
- How to interpret your results and how carbon audits can help farm businesses make strategic decisions
- Making a realistic management plan to reduce carbon on arable farms
- Carbon Trading
BASIS and NROSO points will be available
