With the rising costs of feed and fertiliser it is now more important than ever to ensure you get the best from your home grown forage.

In 2021 several farms reported problems with their silage pit slipping. An AHDB funded project found poor consolidation to be main contributing factor and Dr Dave R Davies highlights the importance of silage management and how each stage of silage making is important to avoid this costly occurrence.

Please come along to meet with Dr Dave R Davies, Silage Solutions to discuss the following topics:

  • The science behind why clamps slip
  • Forage Quality
  • Dry Matter content
  • Compaction - Density
  • Compaction - Angle of filling
  • Chop Length.
  • Managing a slipped clamp.
  • The importance of home grown forage for milk production
