Hereford Monitor Farm meeting: Talking tackle – machinery systems, processes, and ownership structures
Understanding the true cost of farm machinery can be challenging, especially when you operate mixed farming enterprises.
Join AHDB’s KE Technical Manager, Harry Henderson and Rob Meadley to hear about where you can start to design the best suited machinery policy for your business. The four Hereford Monitor Farmers will share and compare their own figures as well as what they have learned from completing their own on farm machinery reviews.
At this Hereford Monitor Farm meeting we will look into the finer detail of crop production systems and the mindset required to fully evaluate the impact of these decisions on a farming business.
Our host Monitor Farmers have all adapted their systems over the past five years and they will openly discuss their developments and the impact on their business resilience. Like many other farmers who are looking hard at their businesses, collaboration and joint ventures offer one possible answer.
- Machinery – let’s talk about the costs, all of them!
- Before you have even turned that tractor wheel, do you have any inclination of your input costs?
- Return – Toys or Tractors? Cost or investment?
- Sharing machinery – vision vs reality? What are the practical challenges and benefits?
- What value is being added to your farm business here when running? Is it delivering...? Or is it possible to deliver more efficiently?
- Replacements – what kit do I really need and what are the options?
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available.
