Dumfries: Data drives dairy decisions
Join us at Hetland Hall as we discuss how using data on a farm can help make informed decisions to help with the profitability and sustainability of a dairy business.
At this meeting we will discuss how data is used to make more informed management decisions on the farm.
Dinner will be available on arrival at 6.30pm.
This meeting will cover:
- What data can be incorporated into the decision-making process to reach business goals, looking at the types and quality of data available on farm
- What are the main sources of data used to make management decisions on farm by the farmer and the wider teams
- The cost of heifer replacements
- What data is available from robots and how this can be used to make business decisions
- What data has driven new farm practices and made cost savings on farm
Meeting details:
Laura Grieve, senior consultant from Owen Farm Services, will lead on the discussion on what data can be extracted and how this can aid farm decision making. We will also be joined by Jim Currie from LELY (UK) to discuss the data that can be extracted from robotic milking systems.
Registration and dinner will be available from 6.30pm with presentations commencing at 7pm. The event is free to attend, but please register to allow us to cater accordingly.
About Potstown Farm:
Potstown Farm is located near Lockerbie, Scotland, where Gareth and David Owen farm their all-year-round calving herd of 255 milking cows. Half of the herd at Potstown are Holsteins and half are Jerseys, milked on a robotics system.
