Please join Richard Ling at Diss, for the second meeting of the winter season, to discuss and compare with Tim Parton their farming systems and what techniques employed by Tim  could be utilised at Diss Monitor Farm to farm more profitably and long term sustainably.    

Tim  is a farm manager in South Staffordshire, farming 300ha and was FCCT soil farmer of the year 2017, Arable innovator of the year 2019 and Sustainable farmer of the year 2020

2.00pm farm update from Richard Ling 

2.15pm Tim classes himself as a biological farmer, having not used insecticides for 6 years and rarely using fungicides, due to healthy soil and always keeping the plant nutritionally balanced, cutting nitrogen applications down to 60kg/ha on wheat.  

Tim has won many awards over the years such as Soil farmer of the year and Innovation farmer of year, he has a passion for a healthy eco-system on farm to be able to work as one with nature.  

Being already Net-zero Tim is looking to a healthy farm for generations to come and today he is going to share this with us.

3.30pm Harry Henderson, AHDB - action planning for Diss Monitor farm with Richard and Tim; what are the opportunities and potential drawbacks of every farmer adopting lower inputs and reduced soil movement with a view to going zero-till, is it possible? Or does every farmer need a tine based ‘emergency drill’ in the back of the shed?
