Chathill Monitor Farm Summer Farm Walk
You are invited to join us on a farm walk at the Chathill Monitor Farm hosted by Pip Robson, with guest speaker Philip Wright!
We look forward to welcoming you on-farm for a look at the cropping for harvest 2023. There will be stimulating discussions around the season so far and some big topics including soil health, compaction, and cultivations.
What this meeting will cover?
Independent soils and cultivations expert Philip Wright will be joining us on the farm walk to discuss:
- Current cropping, with conversations around the input programme and disease pressure this season, as well as variable rate nitrogen applications.
- The role of different tillage systems in boosting biological activity and soil resilience.
- Understanding your soils: why and how to assess soil health and structure.
- GS4 (Herbal Leys) in the arable rotation: the impact on soil health, and following crop performance. Discussion around re-introducing GS4 areas into arable production.
- How tyre choice can help provide preventative action rather than curative action when it comes to soil compaction in no-till systems.
This meeting is free to attend, but please register using the 'Book Now' button so that we can organise catering. BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending.
