Calving in six weeks closed workshop

Past Event - booking closed

Wednesday, 18 November 2020

12:00pm - 2:00pm

Join us for an interactive workshop to learn about how George Wade can reduce his block calving pattern to six weeks.

George wants to tighten his block and concentrate his workload at the start of the season so he can close the parlour and enjoy an easier routine at the end - improving both his lifestyle and profitability.

If you own or manage a block-calving herd and are working towards a tight calving pattern then this workshop is for you.

Vet Dave Gilbert will examine the farm’s fertility performance for the 12-week autumn block herd based at Honeypot Farm and go through mating targets for the coming year as well as looking at:

  • The critical areas for improving fertility
  • What’s involved in getting to a six-week block – from early vet checks and planned heat detection times, to semen testing and labour resource
  • The business case – does it stack up for this farm?

Places are limited as the workshop will be an open two-way discussion where you’ll be expected to share your own experiences.
