Bishop Burton College, York Road, Bishop Burton,

The right drill is key to successful crop establishment, impacting everything from seed germination and soil health to operational efficiency and long-term profitability.

There has been a huge shift in crop establishment methods over the past five years driven by changes in technology, a focus on sustainability, and a need for versatility, with this last season providing food for thought on future drill choices.

This meeting will cover

  • How to manage crop establishment and soils when ground conditions change over the season
  • How to improve the profitability of spring crops
  • The pros and cons of a 'one pass' establishment system vs separating cultivation and drilling operations
  • Workshop activity to calculate the size and type of drill required: Work in groups to assess your farm's specific needs, considering factors such as soil type, crop rotation, attitude to risk, and personal preferences

Join AHDB and expert speaker Harry Henderson at 9:30am for breakfast and registration with a hard start at 10:00am.

The event is free to attend, but please book a place so we can make sure you get fed.

BASIS and NRoSO points are available.
