Join us at Ayrshire Food Hub as we review the progress of Millands Farm during its time as a Strategic Dairy Farm. At this meeting, we will discuss the challenges and successes they have faced around fertility and mastitis in their dairy herd.

This meeting will cover

  • The journey of Millands Farm as a Strategic Dairy Farm over the last three years
  • The challenges the Millands team faced to improve fertility within their dairy herd and the steps they took to improve this
  • The impact reducing their calving block had on the herd and staff and the plans they have for the future to continually improve health and welfare at the farm

Meeting details

At this meeting, Wallace and the Millands team will be joined by James Breen from Map of Ag who has been working closely with them all.

We will share the findings, challenges and proposed solutions to the fertility journey on farm and what they have changed over the last three years.

About Millands Farm

Millands Farm is located near, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire in South West Scotland, where their family have been farming for over 250 years.

The farm is home to 600 Holstein-Friesians on a spring block-calving system. They achieve 5,400 litres of milk per cow per year, averaging 4.2% butterfat and 3.5% protein.
