You are invited to join us for what will be the first Altcar Moss Monitor Farm winter meeting and there is plenty to discuss!

With increasing weather events, demands for businesses to provide details of carbon audits and upcoming SFI options for farming at a higher water table, just what are the opportunities out there? Is wetter farming the answer for the North West?

Join us to learn more about how wetter farming can work within your current cropping system, hear updates on the paludiculture trials taking place in southwest Lancashire and visit the newly established typha trial site on Altcar Moss Monitor Farm (weather permitting).

Mike Longden, technical lead from Lancashire Wildlife Trust will be joining us to explore these lesser known opportunities and you will hear from local farmers about their experiences in wetter farming.

The meeting will also cover

  • 2024 re-cap
  • Winter report for 2025 cropping
  • Latest AHDB updates

Registration and refreshments will be available from 10:30am, with presentations starting at 11:00am. A light lunch will be provided, before heading out to the typha field at Goose Meadow (weather permitting), so please bring suitable clothing/footwear.

BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending.

It is free to attend, but please register to allow us to cater accordingly and keep you up to date with any further details on this event.
