Return to the main Coronavirus page

Defra

The Defra area of the Government website does not have any farmer-facing Covid-19 specific advice currently. However, there is a link to advice and additional guidelines elsewhere on the site, as well as a blog providing daily updates. It is anticipated that farming specific resources may be added in the coming days and weeks.

Red Tractor

Red Tractor Farm Assurance has a COVID-19 hub with a message from CEO Jim Mosely giving some advice to members. They are also continually reviewing their policies to ensure that they have the right systems in place to protect the health of their members and assessors, whilst protecting the integrity of the Scheme.

Following consultation with the FSA and other enforcement bodies, they have made the decision to suspend assessments from 20th March for all sectors, markets, collection centres and hauliers. The guidance is published here. The position for meat and poultry processor assured members, and Red Tractor licensees, can be found here.

National Farmers' Union (NFU)

The NFU is publishing a regular series of articles and advice relating to the current outbreak, which can be accessed from the home page of the website. Some of the advice though is for members only so cannot be accessed by all.

There is a useful section for employers, with a Q&A, and which can be accessed by all.

National Farmers' Union Scotland (NFUS)

National Farmers’ Union Scotland has created a dedicated section for coronavirus advice on its website. It has suspended all meetings for member and also includes a link to official UK government advice.

NFU Cymru

The organisation has a direct link from the home page of its website to the latest information on coronavirus that is accessible to non-members also. It includes a summary of advice from Public Health Wales.

Livestock Auctioneers' Association

The LAA is giving clear advice to members and those who use livestock markets regularly. This can be found here. Among other measures, it is recommending as few people as possible attend market sites and all cafes on sites should be closed.

Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC)

The organisation has announced a suspension of all on-site audits. The latest update can be found here and the website is being regularly updated. Content is signposted from the homepage.

British Meat Processors Association (BMPA)

BMPA is publishing live updates including the latest Government advice relevant to the meat processing sector and its workforce. Members can access guidance on preventing the spread of Covid-19 in meat plants and download a letter template identifying their staff as key workers for use when travelling to and from work. It has also amended its policy on Pork Scheme audits.
