John O’Brien

John manages multiple retail account relationships and is the ‘go-to’ person for them and on behalf of AHDB. John has a wealth of experience earned across a large number of food businesses in his 20-year career.  Initially started in branded FMCG working for the likes of Nestle, and Carlsberg, he worked in some strong well-regarded businesses mostly in marketing roles.  He broadened into dairy, spending 6 years at Glanbia Cheese, with responsibility for marketing and category as well as managing exporting into Middle East, Hong Kong, and a number of southern European countries, and had been sales lead on a number of large accounts, including Nestle and ASDA. He has also held director roles at a number of trade bodies including the Dairy Council of Northern Ireland and the Pizza and Pasta Association. After relaunching a heritage protein brand, he joined AHDB in April 2019.
