Abstract
Previous HGCA-funded research has shown that crops should be managed differently to reduce stem and root lodging: establishing fewer plants and rolling before GS30 are the best methods for reducing root lodging; delaying and reducing fertilizer N are best for reducing stem lodging. So far, winter wheat varieties have not been assessed for their risks to stem and root lodging separately and the current standing powers are a combination of both types.
