Perry Farm - strategic farm launch

Perry Farm in Dorset became our thirteenth Strategic Dairy Farm when it launched in January 2020.

The 356 acre farm, operated by Kenton and Charlotte Bennett, has been in the family for the last 84 years from when Kenton's grandfather, Cecile Henry first rented it. He then moved to purchase Perry Farm in the 50's and it was then operates by Kenton's father and has now moved to him.

The farm operates a tight autumn block calving system with Charlotte dedicated to supporting the cows through calving no matter what the hour. Kenton and Charlotte have been inspired by their research into 'Cow Signals' and have made significant investment in housing and place calf and animal welfare at the heart of everything they do.

Over the next three years they aim to reduce their block calving period form fifteen to eight weeks, further improve fertility work on better utilisation of thier grazing platform, and increase profits from the business. They also wish to help grow a highly functioning team to enable them to take two days a week to spend with their young family.

On the day Kenton was joined by many of the local farming community and provided a passionate and stiring address to those attending clearly illustrating his and Charlottles passion and dedication to farming.

He later commented ' I always give 110%.  I know there's nothing I will look back on and regret. Everyone has things to learn and we are always keen to learn from others so welcome this opportunity to have others experiene on farm on this journey we are on'.
