Join us for a summer farm walk at the Vale of Glamorgan Monitor Farm, hosted by Richard Anthony, where we will look at the cropping for harvest 2024 with stimulating discussions around the season so far.

This meeting will cover

This summer we will have Mike Perry from NIAB and David Felce returning to the Vale of Glamorgan.

Throughout the day we will be discussing:

  • Winter wheat trials, how have the varieties fared this year? What is looking good going forward?
  • Reparation work for the soil and the right tools for the job
  • Mechanical solutions for building on-farm resilience
  • Comparing compaction across cover-crop trials and tramlines

And if we have time we will go and see the OSR.

We will start in the soil pit so please arrive at 10:30am at what3words location ///glitz.from.coffee (New Inn Road, off the A48 at Bridge End).

After this, we will go to Sealands Farm (Bridgend, CF32 0RR) for refreshments and lunch and move on to the rest of the farm walk and the soil pit with David Felce.

This meeting is free to attend, but please book a place so we can organise catering.

BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending.

Please bring suitable footwear and clothing for a field walk.
