Join us for this practical post-mortem event at Market Drayton Market to understand the impact of infection and disease in calves, and what steps can be taken to protect against this.

AHDB and UK-DCN are delighted to be working with Nantwich Farm Vets to follow-on from their 'Rumen Development Demonstration' at UK Dairy Day.

We will be discussing the impact diseases such as pneumonia and scours can have on calves, and how we can reduce the risks to ensure healthy rumen development and fewer associated treatment costs.

We will also be joined by Ben Strugnell, BVM&S Cert PM MRCVS, (of Farm Post Mortems Ltd), who will be completing a practical post-mortem on a calf to identify signs of infection and disease that can be a cause of death, and the anatomy of the gastrointestinal system.

By the end of this meeting, you will know:

  • The impact early life health challenges can have on later productivity from heifer to lactation

  • How to reduce the risk of scours

  • How healthy rumen development can lead to greater efficiencies

Food and refreshments will be available upon arrival. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know on the booking form.
