Henllan: Wales Water Regulations – What you need to know
Join us for this interactive, on-farm meeting to find out more about how the Wales Water Regulations will affect you and see practical examples of steps you can take on your own farm.
Analysis by AHDB found the dairy stocking density in Wales would need to reduce by 17% to meet the nitrogen limit dictated in the new regulations, if the adjustment was made strictly through reducing the number of animals on the enterprise.
And while the Welsh government has recently announced some concessions, it is important to understand how the regulations are going to affect your business.
We will be joined by Nichola Salter (Natural Resources Wales), David Ball (AHDB), Keith Owen (Environment Consultant) and Chris Duller (Soil & Grassland Consultant) who will update you on the Control of Agricultural Pollution (Wales) Regulations. We will discuss with our hosts what this means for them practically and the next steps for their farm.
On the day you will:
- Find out more about the regulations and when they will apply
- Be guided through the storage regulations how our hosts are reducing the volume of slurry and dirty water
- See how AHDB’s Slurry Wizard can help you calculate slurry storage requirements, exploring various scenario’s
- Look at the host’s slurry and soil analysis, discuss their risk maps and assess ground conditions
- Have an opportunity to take part in an open but confidential discussion to find out how your business can become compliant
