• Potato markets have been generally quiet, with demand awaiting a further easing of lockdown measures on 29 March. Following this date, the partial re-opening of hospitality venues will look to further create demand opportunity.
The Government roadmap announcement has put key dates in the calendar for potato markets. The first easing of measures is for schools in England to open on the 8th March. There is hope this will help to alleviate some of the pressure on markets at the moment.
Free-buy prices have remained stable this week for most sectors although demand for free-buy supplies is somewhat slow still. Retail is the dominant source of demand at present with not change in lockdown measures.
