Dorit joined the AHDB Export team (formerly Home-Grown Cereals Authority) in 1998. Dorit’s key area of specialism is in foreign languages. Having led all cereals overseas market development and access work for over 20 years, she now manages the implementation of the AHDB red meat export strategy in the Export team.

Her current responsibilities involve beef, lamb and pork overseas market development in the MENA and sub-Saharan African markets, and is working towards widening her responsibilities to the Latin American markets. Her role has enabled her to broaden her knowledge in the beef, lamb and pork sectors, as well as further utilise her language skills in these diverse and multi-ethnic markets.

Working closely with levy-paying exporters and maintaining relationships with international clients and government departments to maximise opportunities for the UK livestock sectors on international markets is an important part of Dorit’s market development activity. Organising outward missions to established markets and maintaining the UK’s profile alongside other competitor countries are key parts of her role, as well as showcasing the UK industry and supply chain to overseas delegations at inward missions, highlighting the benefits of farm and trade assurance.

In addition, she seeks to raise the awareness and profile of UK red meat and the UK industry in overseas markets by attending and participating in key shows and exhibitions in target markets or regions where the UK needs to be visible alongside competitors.

She also spends time maintaining regular contact with overseas customers on the phone or email – speaking in several languages. Her qualifications include a BA in Modern Languages with International Studies at the London South Bank University and an MA in European Politics at the London Metropolitan University. Growing up in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual background has equipped her with the necessary qualities in dealing with delegates from diverse religions and cultures.
