Having worked in the horticulture industry for 22 years, Cathryn joined AHDB seven years ago for a new challenge and the opportunity to continue working with growers after previously working as a plant pathologist at Stockbridge Technology Centre.

In her role as Horticulture Research Sector Co-ordinator, Cathryn oversees all current and developing work, and updating the SSD on progress and also oversees all the Horticulture panel managers, working with them to ensure that we provide a consistent, high level of interaction with our members. She also works closely with the Field Vegetables sector, meeting with technical staff from our levy paying companies and others to update them on our activities and consult with them on the requirements for new work. This ties in with her management of the Field Vegetables Panel for twice yearly meetings.

Cathryn’s other responsibilities include leading on diseases work through her role as a senior scientist in the Crop Protection and IPM team, leading the Stocking the Toolbox aim of the new IPM programme. She also represents AHDB on the Defra Plant Health Forum, the Plant Health Alliance, FRAG and is a member of the Scottish Plant Health Centre steering group.

In her role Cathryn also enjoys getting out to visit growers at trial sites or their own premises as she feels that it makes all AHDB's work worthwhile.
