Strategic Farm Summer 2021

Join our Strategic Cereal Farm hosts and wider network this June to hear what’s happening on farm. Our interactive workshops will explore this year’s work, focused around getting your inputs, land, crops and biodiversity to work harder for you.

Our AHDB Strategic Cereal Farm hosts, Brian Barker, David Aglen, Rob Fox and David Miller, along with the AHDB and trials teams, will be running the webinars and online interactive workshops throughout June.

  • Discover the latest research happening on your closest farm
  • Find out how you could use tissue or sap testing
  • What are the benefits of plant health assessments and flowering strips?
  • Use your marginal land to best effect

Every Friday in June 2021

Foundation level: 8.30-10am

An interactive session for those wanting to optimise marginal land

This interactive workshop is designed for those who are starting to think about optimising marginal land on-farm. Where might that be? What are the opportunities if you can identify it? How might you start and what data would be useful?

Book now for this practical workshop for an introduction to how you might start this process.

Take your yield mapping to the next stage

How do you define marginal land at the farm level?  How does this change with a changing climate, market prices, ELMS policies, biodiversity net gain and public goods?

This interactive workshop is designed for those who are already yield mapping and using software to know where their marginal land is, but would like to take it to the next stage.

Baseline assessments of plant health, soil status and pollinator numbers are the foundation of future trials

In order to measure the success of future trials, trials at Strategic Cereal Farm Scotland are baselining plant health, soil status and pest and beneficial levels. They are also looking at the benefits of responsive crop nutrition.
