Desktop review of Greenhouse Gases

Summary

Related products and resources
A detailed desktop review of current knowledge on the three main GHGs produced on dairy farms - namely carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, which will improve our understanding.  Although not a GHG, ammonia is also included.

The  technical report is available to download.

About this project

This project reviewed the contribution of GB dairy farming systems to emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) and ammonia.

Through a detailed understanding of the sources of these emissions, the project highlighted where mitigation methods would be practical and cost effective.

Knowledge from this project will be used for further research on modelling GHG and ammonia emissions from dairy systems.
