Flooding risk for coastal and estuary sites

There is a potential increased risk of flooding, with inaccessible fields, or above-field capacity, leading to reduced land availability for spreading manure or slurry, or land area for stock to graze.

  • Find an additional landbank for spreading
  • Find alternative or additional storage and disposal routes
  • Use alternative outlets such as anaerobic digestion
  • With assistance, risk map potential future impact of saltwater intrusion if deemed to be in a vulnerable area
  • Use of a soil management plan and regular soil testing
  • Stock to have an adequate, dry, run-back area or stock grazing plan to ensure the coastal fields are not used when flood risk is high
  • Consider contingency access to land outside of floodplain

Inland sites

  • Follow guidance from a more at-risk site if action is required
