Steve Thompson

Steve is a Business Unit director for ABP, is part of their UK Operating Board and has responsibility for the company’s flagship processing facility in Ellesmere, Shropshire. The certified carbon-neutral site employs over 1,100 people and is a supplier of beef and lamb to some of the UK’s leading retailers and foodservice providers.

Steve comes from a farming background and has a thorough understanding of the farm-to-fork process following 40 years working in the food and agriculture sector, including 10 years spent working for the Meat and Livestock Commission (now AHDB). Steve has also been involved in a number of UK Market access approval audits from countries such as Japan and China, representing UK processors and levy payers.
