Anthony Hopkins

Anthony joined AHDB in July 2026 as the Cereals & Oilseeds Sector Director, bringing together deep practical farming experience and expertise in agricultural policy.

Raised in Worcestershire, Anthony spent 12 years working on a traditional mixed farm before completing a PhD in Political Strategy at the University of Birmingham and working in academia. Since moving into agricultural policy in 2018, Anthony has held senior roles at the NFU, including Chief Crops Adviser, and most recently served as Joint Head of Policy and Business Development at the British Society of Plant Breeders. Anthony's work has focused on key issues including plant health, environmental regulation, seed trade and precision breeding. Outside of work, Anthony keeps a small flock of sheep, maintains a collection of vintage farm machinery, and has been a keen beekeeper since childhood.
