Antonia comes from an arable background with all members of the family working in various agricultural sectors. Having grown up on the family farm in South Yorkshire, Antonia is now based in North Nottinghamshire and continues to maintain close links with many growers from the agricultural and horticultural sectors within the area. She has a strong agronomic background with a wealth of experience gained as a BASIS trained agronomist working with distributors and also as an independent advisor.
She comes to the AHDB from Fera Science where she spent over two years with the Plant Clinic supporting growers across all sectors during challenging situations. With a clear understanding of plant health and grower challenges; Antonia supported growers by adding value to Plant Clinic services by linking research into in-field situations to provide testing and bespoke projects to growers.
Antonia initially studied at Bishop Burton College then moved onto to do a foundation degree in Agriculture and Crop Science at Riseholme College. This was followed by a gap year where she trained with independent agronomists across the North Yorkshire region. She then went on to gain a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Environmental Land Management at Askham Bryan College, York. During this period she forged links and gained experience in precision agriculture and was also a successful applicant into the John Deere Journalism Scheme which culminated in a work experience placement at the Farmers Weekly.
Antonia is proud of her achievements so far and even more proud to be part of AHDB Knowledge Transfer team for the potato sector.
