Additional information
AHDB survey animal feed compounders and integrated poultry units (IPU) from across Great Britian. Details of how we collect and quality assure this information can be found here.
The summary tables above present a high-level selection of the usage and production categories published. To view all available categories, please download the full dataset.
The following definitions have been provided for clarity:
- An animal feed compounder processes raw materials and additives to manufacture feed for livestock and poultry. Animal feed compounders produce feed for various life stages to meet specific nutritional requirements. The feed that is produced can be in the form of compounds, blends, concentrates or straight grains. The feed is then sold and distributed to customers for use in their enterprises.
- An IPU is a vertically integrated enterprise that manages multiple stages of the poultry and/or egg production system. IPUs manufacture feed, using raw materials and additives, exclusively for use within their own enterprise.
Please note that the information on this page relates to usage and production in Great Britian. Animal feed statistics for Northern Ireland are produced by DAERA and available here.
Next update scheduled for 7th August 2025.
