You question if your vaccines are working, but it may be time to take a step back first and look at things from a calf’s perspective.

Calves are delicate and it’s often surprising how little changes can become a considerable stressor for calves, leading to disease outbreaks.

Bovine respiratory disease is a multifactorial disease and, as such, requires a multifactorial approach to its control and management. Vaccines can play a critical role in both the control and elimination of disease; however, with varying types, timings, routes of administration, age of calves to be vaccinated and target pathogens, the choice of vaccine is often a confusing one for farmers. How do you know if, when and how to look at your vaccination protocol?

This webinar will cover:

The impact stress has on calf pneumonia

Where does vaccination sit in the farmer's pneumonia toolbox?

What are your vaccine options?

Storage, handling and administration of vaccines

Stress-free handling for calves and calf rearers

Throughout the webinar, there will be opportunity to ask any questions you have regarding stress management and vaccination protocols.

Those registering early will be able to request a free delegate pack in the post containing a calf thermometer, an environment thermometer and other valuable resources from us, plus we will send you your cuppa and biscuit too to enjoy while listening live to the webinar!

We look forward to you sending in your questions and pneumonia management related experiences for discussion during the webinar.

This webinar is part of our pneumonia campaign, helping you and your calves breathe easier this winter.

If you can’t make it to the live event, you can still register to receive a recording and links to resources after the event.
Wed, 18 Oct 2023 09:03:03 GMThttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/events/managing-calf-stress-and-use-of-vaccines-for-pneumonia-controlPig Health and Welfare Council Biennial Report 2021-2022https://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/pig-health-and-welfare-council-biennial-report-2021-2022Pig Health and Welfare Council Biennial Report 2021-2022Fri, 13 Oct 2023 14:28:22 GMThttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/pig-health-and-welfare-council-biennial-report-2021-2022Youngstock housing – Housing layout and constructionhttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/youngstock-housing/layoutYoungstock housing – Housing layout and constructionFri, 06 Oct 2023 09:24:00 GMThttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/youngstock-housing/layoutYoungstock housing – Designing housing to feed calves with easehttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/youngstock-housing/feed-calves-with-easeYoungstock housing – Designing housing to feed calves with easeFri, 06 Oct 2023 09:20:00 GMThttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/knowledge-library/youngstock-housing/feed-calves-with-easeFive top tips for stress-free cattle handling https://ahdb.org.uk:443/news/five-top-tips-for-stress-free-cattle-handlingFive top tips for stress-free cattle handling Wed, 27 Sep 2023 11:18:25 GMThttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/news/five-top-tips-for-stress-free-cattle-handlingHalal and exports: Dispelling the myths and exploring the opportunitieshttps://ahdb.org.uk:443/events/halal-and-exports-dispelling-the-myths-and-exploring-the-opportunities
Join Dr Awal Fuseini, AHDB halal sector manager, and Dr Phil Hadley, AHDB international trade development director, for a discussion about the importance of the halal sector and exports to the lamb market.

Awal will discuss what halal means, along with the current value of this market both nationally and internationally.
